Cold calling is a large part of the Independent Study and Mentorship program. However, even though this is my second year in ISM, I have yet to cold call anyone. Instead, I have used my network of connections to spark conversation with a variety of professionals. Even though my path has not been the most conventional one in the program, I had the opportunity to meet a wide array of professionals in the sports medicine field last year — ranging everywhere from orthopedic surgeons to athletic trainers to clinical neuropsychologists.
The time has come around again for me to set out on my quest to find people to interview. As of right now, I have reached out to a few professionals and can’t wait to hear back from them. I hope to talk to them about the intricacies of their work and potentially get some feedback on my original work. This will allow me to stretch myself and take my work to the next level with professional input.
As I continue my quest to find sports medicine professionals who are available to interview, I will also be working on my original work and independent research. I am excited to see how my interviews influence my work and to take in different perspectives.
