In the past week, I have been conducting preliminary research in sports medicine. The target of this research is to help me narrow down the scope that I would like to focus on for this year.
In fact, I was able to discover an interesting article titled, “Athletic identity: Hercules' muscles or Achilles heel?” while I was source mining. This article is the origin of all research on athletic identity and I was so excited to dive into it. However, there was one major problem: I could not access the PDF.
No matter where I looked, whether it be PubMed or Google Scholar, I was unable to find a PDF of the article that I could access without paying for it. I was beginning to become discouraged about finding the article when it hit me. I can use the “Cited by” tab to find a plethora of sources.
The next thing I knew, I was knee deep in resources and articles. I was able to find multiple sources that I found interesting and compiled the top five into an annotated bibliography.
What I had originally thought was a major roadblock, turned out to be a premium mining source (like a buffet).
