No one is able to have everything go their way all the time. People face highs and lows throughout their entire life. However, oftentimes both the good and the bad are mixed together.
This was certainly the case during my ISM journey this week while exploring the field of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. As I continued to explore more about orthopedic treatment, I focused on research pertaining to invasive orthopedic surgery and how it can affect a wide range of patients. In particular, I found research about operations on younger patients to be especially fascinating. While the research process did still feel somewhat overwhelming, I was able to find my sources more easily this week as I began to narrow down my focus on the topic of orthopedic surgery.
Furthermore, during the junior varsity football game last week, I worked as a student athletic trainer alongside a few underclassmen. This was rather daunting since I was the most experienced trainer and was given more responsibilities to make sure the players stayed safe. My anxiety regarding the situation was amplified even more when it unexpectedly began to rain during the middle of the game. Fortunately, the game was able to finish smoothly without any major injuries.
While I do anticipate facing more difficulties in my future, both in the ISM program and as a student trainer, I will only be able to gain more experience from the opportunities. I will cherish them and make a good situation out of a bad one, almost like dancing in the rain.
