As one of the Vice Presidents of the March of Dimes club at my school, I have put lots of effort into organizing each of our events this year. In fact, this Thursday our club is having a joint event with the Academic Decathlon organization to make friendship bracelets to give out to children.
However, it wasn’t until the Scottish Rite and Dallas Mavericks Combine, which I mentioned in my last blog, that I knew exactly what organization we were going to donate the bracelets to. During the Combine, I had the opportunity to ask my mentor, Dr. Sophia Ulman, if she would like to have friendship bracelets to give out in the Movement Science Lab. She readily agreed, and I have since acquired all of the supplies needed to hopefully make over 100 bracelets!
After the event on Thursday, I will bring the bracelets with me to my next mentor meeting with her. Hopefully, the patients of the Movement Science Lab will appreciate the love and care that goes into each bracelet. During our next meeting, I also hope to work out a consistent mentor visit schedule and talk through what this mentorship process will look like. I’ll keep you updated!
